FocalNest

About FocalNest

FocalNest is a software-first family hub built for households navigating ADHD and executive-function challenges. It's flexible enough to work just as well for everyone else under the same roof.

Why we built this

Every family organizer we tried fell apart within weeks. Chore charts that required constant maintenance. Calendar apps with notifications we learned to ignore. Expensive hardware devices running software that felt like an afterthought.

We built FocalNest because we needed it. A parent with ADHD, a kid who loses track of time, a household that needed structure without rigidity.

Design philosophy

Depth over breadth

We do 2–3 things brilliantly, not 10 things adequately. Task management and family coordination done right, instead of a feature list that looks good in marketing but fails in practice.

ADHD-first, but not ADHD-only

Time-sensitive task escalation (green → amber → orange → red), visual accountability, generous whitespace, and momentum over perfection. Every design decision considers cognitive load. Because every brain is different, that support is dialed in per person, across four categories: turn on what helps someone, leave the rest off. A family member who wants a plain shared list gets exactly that.

Software quality is the product

FocalNest is software-first: serious engineering effort, running on the tablets, phones, and displays your family already owns. No proprietary device to buy or maintain.

What makes us different

  • No proprietary hardware or vendor lock-in
  • ADHD considerations aren't a marketing angle — they're the foundation
  • Per-person support — turn on only what each person needs, or none at all
  • Different interfaces for adults and kids, tuned by age and reading level
  • Honest pricing (one household price, no tricks)
  • Built for how families actually function, not how they're supposed to

Current status

FocalNest is in closed beta. We're building carefully, prioritizing quality over speed, and reviewing access requests as we go. Request access and we'll send you a personal invite, or sign in if you're already invited.
