Subprocessors
These are the third-party services that process data on our behalf in order to run FocalNest. Each operates under a data processing agreement.
| Service | What it does | What it processes | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fly.io | Application and database hosting | All application data | United States |
| Cloudflare | Static site hosting, CDN, DDoS protection | Marketing site traffic; no account data | Global edge network |
| Stripe | Subscription billing | Billing email, payment details (we never see or store card numbers) | United States |
| Resend | Transactional email — password resets, parental consent, invitations | Email address, message contents | United States |
| Postmark | Inbound email parsing — forwarding an email to create tasks and events | The contents of emails you choose to forward to your family address | United States |
| Anthropic | AI project drafting, first-step generation, forwarded-email parsing | Your project description or forwarded email, plus household shape (roles and age ranges, not names). Email parsing additionally sends existing project titles and identifiers and the titles of up to 15 recent open tasks, so a forwarded message can be filed against something that already exists | United States |
| OpenAI | Generating collectible card art, narration audio, and ambient backgrounds | No customer data — prompts are written by us, and assets are generated ahead of time | United States |
| Optional Google Calendar sync and Google sign-in | Calendar events you choose to sync; your Google account email | United States |
A note on the AI services
Anthropic processes text only when you actively use an AI feature — asking the wizard to draft a project, or forwarding an email to your family address. It receives the text you supplied — for a forwarded email, that includes the message body as the sender wrote it — plus a summary of your household's shape (roles and age ranges, never names). Email parsing sends a little more: your family's existing project titles and identifiers, and the titles of up to 15 recent open tasks, so a forwarded message can be filed against something you already have rather than duplicating it. Anthropic does not use API requests to train their models.
Because your own text is sent as you wrote it, don't put sensitive personal, health, or financial details into an AI prompt.
AI features are off for a child account unless a parent turns them on for that child, and can be withdrawn at any time.
